Decisions are easy, actions are not
We all have values. Whether held lightly or firmly, knowingly or not, we all stand for something.
In good times they rarely get tested, so words and intentions are enough.
The acid test is when things get tough.
When we must choose whether we really hold those values.
So often we wrestle with hard decisions, agonising for days. Fighting what we know is the right answer.
This does our values a disservice.
We go to the trouble of defining our values precisely so that in difficult times we don’t have to decide what to do next.
We’ve already made the decision.
We may not like the action needed to live up to it, but that is what we must do.
Your values should set the boundaries for your behaviour.
So, stop fighting the decision, stick to your values, and use your energy for action.
It’s what it’s for.
